Minecraft is a survival game and has neither levels nor specific missions for players to complete, which gives players a lot of freedom. However, the game has some achievements available. A standalone server called CraftBukkit was developed by the community to facilitate the development of server-level plugins that enable some new gameplay elements such as permissions, ranks, virtual currency, and chat formatting. Competitions are possible in some servers, where players can participate in a lot of games, including those similar to the Hunger Games. A game mode, PvP (player versus player), can be introduced to allow players to battle each other. In 2013, Mojang announced Minecraft Realms, a server hosting special services that allow players to enter various multiplayer servers more easily and securely without having to have their own server.
